Overall Impression:

A black stout with a pronounced roasted flavor and coffee-like taste. The balance is tending towards having a little malty sweetness and does not carry the creamy heaviness of a milk stout.

Appearance:

Jet black in color. A thick, tan colored head with medium persistence.

Aroma:

Moderate roasted coffee-like aroma dominates with cocoa and roasted grain secondary notes. Subtle fruity hop aroma.

Flavor:

Moderate roasted grain flavor with a medium bitterness. The finish is moderately balanced with a touch of malty sweetness. Has roasted coffee-like flavors with a gentle dark cocoa finish. Balancing factors include medium earthy hop flavor. 

Mouthfeel:

Medium-full body, with a somewhat creamy character. Low to moderate carbonation. For the medium hop bitterness and significant proportion of dark grains present, this beer is remarkably smooth. Has a light astringency from the roasted grains.
